The Future Outlook: Unfit Marital Prospects?
Dating with the prospects of marriage is challenging for men and women today. Many younger adults have chosen to either delay marriage or not marry at all. For instance, when today’s young people reach 40 – 50 years of age, a record high number of them (25%) will never marry. In 1980, that number was only 5% for the same age group (Wang & Parker, 2014).
Men, in particular, have vented their frustrations on the low prospects of women fit to be wives. The low-quality women are due to their feminist ideologies, unfaithfulness, lack of femininity, and the lack of honoring the sanctity of marriage. For instance, women file for divorce at a nearly 70% rate (Emamzadeh, 2022). Unfortunately, men believe they are more affected since women benefit financially and gain custody of their children after divorce. For this reason, men do not want to risk investing in marrying today’s modern woman.
Women Behaving Badly
Recently, a video surfaced where a woman got into a car accident. As a result, her husband somehow gained access to her phone. On this woman’s phone, her husband found photos of his wife performing explicit sexual acts on another man! Of course, finding this would be a devastating discovery for the husband. In the end, the husband filed for divorce. As for the woman, she recovered well but regrettably and justifiably lost her husband.
The men commenting on the video agree that today’s women are not wife material. They all agree that marriage is a risk not worth taking. Insomuch, men in mass have expressed they opt never to marry! This should be highly concerning for women today because it means that many women will not get what they ultimately want in a relationship – marriage. Truthfully, something is wrong with the dating market. Not only did this video and the commenters prove this, but statistical data proves that marriages have steadily declined since the 1970s.
Sin Leads to the Destruction of the Family
Nonetheless, biblically speaking, we Christians should not be surprised that the state of marriages and the family unit is in shambles today. The Bible clarifies that many are called, but few are chosen. Only a chosen few will enter the kingdom of heaven. This is because many are living in sin. Sin leads to destruction, and unfortunately, the destruction of the divine order of God – the family structure – is part of what will be destroyed in these end times.
When a man is not spiritually led but carnal-minded, the enemy will send every Delilah, every Jezebel, and every succubus their way.
Both Men and Women are Sinners!
Many women are living in sin. However, this is not gender specific because many men also live in sin! A man of God must walk in spirit and truth. This walk requires that the holy spirit leads and guides one’s affairs. When a man is not spiritually led but carnal-minded, the enemy will send every Delilah, every Jezebel, and every succubus their way. Unfortunately, this is why so many men are complaining; they are not walking in spirit and truth. Instead, innumerable men are carnally moving through the world, reaping the rewards of their sins.
Women, too, are suffering the same fate, not realizing they are dating sinfully, reaping the rewards of their sin, and not genuinely receiving their end goal of a lasting and fulfilling relationship with someone. But this is the majority of people who are all unhappy with their dating outcomes. As I mentioned before, many are called few are chosen.
The Solution to Happy, Fulfilling Marriages
So what is the solution to all of this debauchery? How do we have a more significant increase in successful, fulfilling relationships that lead to long-lasting marriages? Well, the truth is, we must go back to the foundation of it all. We must be faithful followers of Christ! Christians must be set apart! This means we must be different from those of this world…which is the majority of people. The Bible says in 2 Timothy 3:16 that all scripture is “given by inspiration of God…for instruction in righteousness.” God instructs us to walk in righteousness and be convicted of doing so through correction through His inspired word.
The Bible teaches that we must have the fruit of the spirit. This is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. When we review these characteristics, each description will match every man and woman’s desire for a wife or husband. This is why having a faithful walk with God convicts one to live righteously, benefiting the people we relate with in our walk of life.
The Chosen Few Will Obtain Favor
It is the chosen few, who are walking in the spirit, who will reap the rewards of the gift of God. This includes God’s divine order of a long-lasting and fulfilling marriage. The Bible says to ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you shall find. But wait, the Bible also says in John 9:31, “Now we know God heareth not sinners: But if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will. Him he heareth”.
First and foremost, we must ask ourselves, do we possess the holy spirit, and are we walking purposefully in God’s will to serve his kingdom? If not, we are carnally minded, walking in sin, which leads to destruction. The devil can easily deceive those not under God’s covenant and lead them down the path of destruction, and guess what? Marriages/relationships are not an exception!
Are You The Chosen Few?
My question for you today is, are you the chosen few? or are you walking in sin? This simple but essential question should reveal why you are likely not getting the desired result of a lasting relationship. If you are single and want a spouse, be under the divine order of God’s will for your life. Seek His kingdom AND righteousness, and all these things shall be added onto you.
If you are married or engaged and have difficulties within the relationship, remember a couple that prays together stays together. Pray, and ask God to heal any brokenness. We must always convict ourselves by committing ourselves to the will of God. It is only through righteousness we can possess the fruit of the spirit. In addition, God hears the prayers of those who worship him and does his will – which is ultimately to edify his kingdom.
