Be Vigilant and Delivered Against the Evil Spirit of Jealousy!

Jealousy is an evil spirit the enemy hires to divert God’s purpose and plan for your life.  The spirit can manifest in many forms, such as competition, hatred, gossip, slander, anger, bitterness, rage, discord, confrontation etc.  If you see any of these signs in an individual, know that the spirit of jealousy may very well be at work.

The inability to identify and renounce the spirit of jealousy can have severe consequences for the victim. It can ultimately result in death if left unchecked.

Examples of Jealousy in the Bible

There are many examples of jealousy mentioned in the Bible.  The story of Cain and Abel, where the spirit of jealousy was presenting itself within the family, is one example.  Another example is when Saul became increasingly jealous of David after many cheered his victory over Goliath and, as a result, desperately pursued to kill him.  And yet another example in the story of Jesus’ birth, where Pharoah called for all boys aged two and under to be killed to destroy the purpose of the Kingdom of God.

In all the examples above, the spirit of jealousy was so intense that it ultimately wanted to kill its victims.  There are many souls in the grave today as a result of jealousy.

Be Vigilant Against the Spirit of Jealousy

It is important to be sober and vigilant against our adversary, the devil because he prowls around roaring like a lion, seeking whom he may devour.  The Bible states the devil only comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10)!

Understand that the enemy can use individuals who are not under the power and authority of God to work against the purpose and plan God has for your life.  They can be agents used against you to thwart your destiny!  The enemy can operate against you through witchcraft, sorcery, divination, occultism, slander, or even murder, as we see in many examples in the ancient text of the Bible.

Test the Spirit of Those Around You

The Bible states, “Blessed is the man who walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful… (Psalm 1:1)”  Watch the company you keep.  Understand that those who are not holy spirit filled or walking upright may become agents the enemy hires to harm you.

How to Defeat the Enemy Who Wars Due to Jealousy

The only way to recognize and fight this evil spirit is to have a strong relationship with God.  This relationship will equip you with the holy spirit, giving you discernment and revelation to know your enemy.  And to fight the enemy requires fasting and prayerfulness, which ultimately gives you ammunition to defeat them!

The Bible states we are seated in heavenly places, far above all principality and power, and might, and dominion! His word declares nothing by any means can harm us.

God’s Will for Our Lives

God has his perfect will for every one of our lives.  He promises that when we have a relationship with him, he will give us revelation to know the hope of his calling for our lives (Ephesians 1: 18-19).  With a relationship with God, he will reveal many things to us, including our enemies, our purpose, and secrets in his word – the sword of the spirit.  In fact, this is precisely how Jesus was able to know his enemies and his purpose.  And to defeat his enemies, he resorted to the word of God when satan was tempting him during his forty-day fast.

God Delivers Us out of All Our Troubles

Use the word of God as your battle axe and weapon of war!  Understand that many (yes, many) are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers us out of them all.  Not some, ALL!  This means you will have an unusual amount of adversity when you have a strong relationship with God.  But his word is firm; He will deliver you out of all your troubles!  The Bible states the servant is no better than the master.  Jesus had to carry his cross, and so do we, as true believers in Christ.

Conclusion

Understand that the enemy is constantly waging war against the saints of God. As a result, we must be fully equipped with the whole armor of God, praying always with all kinds of prayers – praying without ceasing!  We must be hearers and doers of the word of God at all times. And finally, we must be committed to obeying his commandments.  In this way, we can cancel all evil principalities, even those who come through the spirit of jealousy!

  1. […] Focusing on the opinions of others can diminish our self-worth, reduce our peace, and ultimately lead us to a dark place of mental illness. However, we have peace and joy by prioritizing God, honoring him, and focusing on His desires. People can still be unkind and say negative things about you, even if you try to be likable to everyone. Moreover, some of these faults can stem from their jealousy and hatred. […]
